Give for Grizzlies 2023 - Grizzly Bear Foundation

Rachel Beardsley November 13, 2023

Bid on “The Wildest of Flowers” – Support Grizzly Bear Conservation

It’s time for the annual Give for Grizzlies silent auction, hosted by the Grizzly Bear Foundation, an organization dedicated to conserving grizzly bears and their habitats across North America. This event brings together passionate creators and wildlife enthusiasts to raise critical funds for research and conservation efforts.

About the Image

“The Wildest of Flowers” captures a poignant moment in the life of a grizzly bear, foraging for dandelions along the edge of a highway. The bear looks up, momentarily distracted as a truck speeds past—a fleeting yet powerful reminder of the challenges these majestic creatures face.

Dandelions are an important food source for grizzlies, especially in spring and early summer when other vegetation may be sparse. However, the location of these food sources often puts bears at risk, drawing them dangerously close to busy roads. Collisions between vehicles and wildlife are a significant threat to grizzly populations in the Canadian Rockies, where habitat fragmentation and human activity intersect. This image is not just a snapshot; it’s a call to action to protect these vulnerable creatures and ensure they have safe spaces to thrive.

How to Bid

As a contributing artist, I’m thrilled to offer something truly special this year. “The Wildest of Flowers” is a newly released image, not yet available for sale. The winning bidder will have the honor of being the first collector of this exclusive piece.

Printed on my signature Hahnemühle Bamboo fine art paper, this environmentally sustainable and archival-quality print measures 16 x 20 inches. It is signed, certified, and supplied unframed—ready for you to showcase.

Bidding is already underway and will close on November 28th at 10 PM.

Why This Matters

Grizzly bears are an iconic part of the Canadian Rockies, but their populations face growing threats from habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and climate change. By participating in the auction, you’re helping to ensure the survival of these magnificent creatures for future generations.

Let’s work together to protect the wilderness that grizzlies call home.
